· 01:48:32

Hile Gunslingers, we have a special treat for you guys on this Round Table for the first time we have a guest joining us. EW Senior Writer and huge fan of Uncle Stevie and The Dark Tower, Anthony Breznican. Anthony wrote the cover story and the other Dark Tower Articles that have been all over EW the end of last week and beginning of this week. Anthony was in Cape Town and interviewed Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey and Nikolaj Arcel. As well as talked to Uncle Stevie on the phone. Anthony shares some insights into his background with Sai King as well as some insights into writing these stories and even gives us a few small nuggets that may not have made it into the articles. We finish up the show with a few emails.

Show Notes

First up the many articles of Anthony Breznican, Senior Writer of Entertainment Weekly;

First one The Dark Tower: Idris Elba on breathing fire into Stephen King’s Gunslinger”

Second one The Dark Tower: Matthew McConaughey awaits the end of the world as The Man in Black”

Third one The Dark Tower: What the film changes (and keeps) from Stephen King’s books”

Fourth one “‘The Dark Tower’: Exclusive First Look Images”

Fifth one “How The Dark Tower movie connects to Stephen King’s other books”

These next three were released after we recorded but Anthony did allude to a few of them;

Sixth one “Pieces of Eight: What The Dark Tower movie draws from each Stephen King novel”

Seventh one “Remember the 19th: EW’s The Dark Tower cover holds a hidden message”

Eighth and final one “*The Dark Tower:*Venture deep into the high-resolution photos”

I wanted to give you guys some scenes from the Idris Elba Greatest hits album. I am going to do this until the release of the film. These are both pretty light on the spoilers.

First The Wire, Idris Elba plays the second in command to a drug Empire, and the bosses nephew is dropping off his earnings for the day. It is a subtle scene, not very flashy, but the brilliance of Idris is on display, especially considering he is a Brit.

Next is from Luther, Idris is John Luther and he has come face to face with a killer who has been put on the path by his emotionally abusive and manipulative father. Here Idris plays a man not as hard-edged as Roland on the surface but as the scene goes on you see the mettle that is just below the surface.

Might be off topic but Anthony Breznican also had a story and reveal of the first look at It from the upcoming film. Since we mentioned it HERE is a link, coulrophobics beware.
